Saturday evening we drove to Sandia Peak
in Albuquerque, in hopes to ride the famous tram. Once we arrived, we watched several folks board a tiny tram that went very high up into the mountains.
We each took a hard gulp and decided to just sit back and observe the beautiful
New Mexico sunset over a lovely dinner.
The next morning, after a little turquoise shopping of course, we were on our way to the Grand Canyon. On our way to Arizona, we drove through Flagstaff.
I have to say it was one of the prettiest places on the trip. Home to Northern Arizona State University, it was a cozy, down-to-earth college town with lots of green trees.
We reached the "South Rim" of the Grand Canyon around 4PM. I was amazed that there was a small, natural forest leading up to the entrance of the park, and then all of a sudden the huge hole in the ground. What an awesome God we have to provide us with such a treasure. Can you imagine being the first to discover such a wonder? It was breathtaking.
There were lots of tourists speaking in languages from all over the world and some snapping pictures- almost in a hurry, like the canyon might suddenly disappear. Looking back at my photos of the canyon, they seem to all look alike; but there were several different views -even if you moved an inch. Tauna and I had to hold hands as we crouched down to bravely hang our feet over the edge.
Paulla didn't find it so "brave" and we got an earful all the way to Las Vegas! Hey, you only live once...
